2026 California Governor Primary: Where the Candidates Stand
California's June 2 primary will narrow a crowded field of eight major candidates down to two. Whoever wins in November will govern the largest state in the country.
No Labels compiled this nonpartisan reference guide so California voters have a clear, factual picture of where each candidate stands on the issues that affect daily life: housing costs, homelessness, immigration policy, climate and energy, public safety, taxes, and education. We also tracked their positions on the proposed Billionaire Tax, a ballot measure that would impose a one-time 5% tax on net wealth over $1 billion.
Positions are drawn from CBS News, CalMatters, candidate statements, and debate transcripts as of late May 2026.
